METADATA_FIELD_COMPONENT_MAP

Single source of truth for the MetadataField ↔ ComponentId bijection over the Bytes/String-typed mutable-metadata family. The dict↔legacy merge below and the lookup helpers in xmtp_mls::groups::app_data::component_source all derive from this table.

Functions

decode_secret_hex

Decode hex that holds a secret, such as the commit-log signer, straight into a zeroizing buffer. hex::decode would leave a partly decoded secret in its own buffer on an error. A 0x or 0X prefix is accepted, as hex::decode does.

find_mutable_metadata_extension

Finds the mutable metadata extension in the given MLS Extensions.

merge_components_into_mutable_metadata

Overlay metadata components onto base, reading each component’s bytes with component. Values translate as in merge_dict_into_mutable_metadata.

merge_dict_entries_into_mutable_metadata_lossy

merge_dict_into_mutable_metadata_lossy for a dictionary read without OpenMLS types. entry returns the stored bytes of a component id.

merge_dict_into_mutable_metadata

Overlay the AppData dictionary’s metadata components onto base. No-op when the extensions carry no AppData dictionary.

merge_dict_into_mutable_metadata_lossy

Merge available dictionary fields for legacy migration. Keep defaults for absent fields. Omit malformed values without replacing them with defaults.
